Using the Compensation Scheme to Signal the Ease of a Task

چکیده
The literature on principal-agent models has been mainly concerned with two aspects of the princi-pal's problem: (a) choosing the optimal compensation scheme to motivate the agent to implement the " right " amount, or type, of effort in accordance with the principal's objectives; and (b) choosing the scheme that will " sort " the agents according to their underlying (and unobservable) ability. have all looked at various aspects of these problems and have presented results with respect to the nature of the specific schemes that accomplish these goals. We depart from this by focusing on the firm's ability to hire agents by offering the right compensation scheme. We investigate the principal's problem of convincing the agent that she will earn significant compensation if she joined the firm. In particular, we focus on a context in which the firm has private knowledge about the marginal productivity of effort inside the firm. Thus, this is distinct from the adverse selection literature in which the agent is assumed to possess private information. We present results on the shape and power of the optimal compensation scheme in this context. We also discuss the extent to which the shape of the scheme can serve as a credible signal of the firm's underlying marginal productivity. Finally, we present results from a series of experiments which are consistent with the developed theory.

Speech recognition is a subfield of artificial intelligence that develops technologies to convert speech utterance into transcription. So far, various methods such as hidden Markov models and artificial neural networks have been used to develop speech recognition systems. In most of these systems, the speech signal frames are processed uniformly, while the information is not evenly distributed ...

Recently, increasing of non-linear loads in the power distribution network has been increased harmonics in these networks. The harmonics problems get worse and complicated by installation of power factor correction capacitors and filters. But the Distributed Generations (DGs) interface inverters with properly control can help to improve power quality, harmonic compensation and voltage unbalance...
متن کاملAdaptive Segmentation with Optimal Window Length Scheme using Fractal Dimension and Wavelet Transform
In many signal processing applications, such as EEG analysis, the non-stationary signal is often required to be segmented into small epochs. This is accomplished by drawing the boundaries of signal at time instances where its statistical characteristics, such as amplitude and/or frequency, change. In the proposed method, the original signal is initially decomposed into signals with different fr...
متن کاملBi-objective Economic statistical design of the joint Xbar and S charts incorporating Taguchi loss function
In this research, we propose a bi-objective model for the economic-statistical design of the X-bar and S control charts. The model minimizes out-of-control average time to signal as well as minimizing mean hourly loss-cost where it incorporates the Taguchi loss function. Statistical constraint is considered in the model to achieve desired in-control time to signal. A non-dominated sort...
متن کاملLatency Compensation in Multi Chaotic Systems Using the Extended OGY Control Method
The problem discussed in this paper is the effect of latency time on the OGY chaos control methodology in multi chaotic systems. The Smith predictor, rhythmic and memory strategies are embedded in the OGY chaos control method to encounter loop latency. A comparison study is provided and the advantages of the Smith predictor approach are clearly evident from the closed loop responses. The comple...
